My kind of busy life

I had occasion to eat lunch with a man I'd never met before this week. He asked this seemingly innocuous question: "And what do you like to do when you're not at work?"

The answer went something like this:"Three kids at three different schools and stages with concurrent and concomitant homework, activities, and life-planning stresses, two of them with health conditions that cause us additional stress. Five members of the family involved in soccer, four games per weekend. I like riding my bike up and down mountains, but don't have time for much actual off-road mountain biking because ... kids. Many dear friends accumulated through the many facets and stages of our life in Chilliwack so lots of socializing. Two women's clubs (if you count the Rosedale Rockers, as I do). Two soccer teams (for me). Reading, theatre, music, movies. Bootcamp twice a week, badminton. Four cats, one dog. Four brothers and sisters-in-law. Fourteen nieces and nephews, plus my husband's extended family. Caring for aging parents and their intensifying health concerns. Chores, chores, more chores."

That about says it. Tired me out just recounting it. Plus some me time and some Daryl-and-me time.
